Airstream Maiden Voyage, crossing Lake Michigan on the S.S. Badger

It seriously has been FOREVER since I've just sat down and poured my heart out here. I have to say that I absolutely love this space. I love writing. and I love my life! So if you needed a quick catch up, that was it in three sentences!

No but here's the long version. My summer was amazing. I mean amazing. Those of you who have followed my journey since I started this blog when I moved abroad to Melbourne, Australia in 2012 have watched me have several jobs and go through a major career change.  Not to mention travel all over the world, live abroad on three continents, before moving to the Midwest which I now call home.

It's been one of the hardest transitions these last few years. It snowed for the first time yesterday and I wasn't mad about it. Those readers who have read on my journey moving from Florida to Wisconsin know that the cold weather has been a pretty big struggle for me. I still struggle with it, but we all have struggles right?!

So BIG NEWS! First, I am finally so excited to share my 35mm film photos from our Airstream Maiden Voyage from this past Labor Day! We boarded the SS Badger to cross Lake Michigan. Our route was then to drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes, up through the Mackinaw Bridge, visit Techwamenon Falls, traverse with our trailer along the northern coast of Lake Superior (which was insanely beautiful), and stop in one of our favorite spots in the midwest- Marquette, Michigan! We then traveled south and back to our home in Door County on Lake Michigan's bayside. It was so so fantastic! Everything ran smoothly. It was the first time we had ever taken a trip like that and not slept in a tent. It rained several of the days of our trip and instead of waking up early and packing up a wet tent, we slept in snuggled up together next to the open window just listening to the rain fall outside. I can still smell the rain. Some of the best sleep of my life. Ok so back to the news! So a local magazine called YOU Magazine (which I've written a few travel articles for before) contacted us to interview us for an article on our airstream redo. SOOO we were featured this month in their holiday issue along with another beautiful local couple! You can read the article online  by clicking here!

Excited to share more from our trip in this space so stay tuned! We are even more excited to make the trek south to Florida with our beloved airstream this winter. So if you see a 1960 Tradewind heading south on I-95 in the next few months- HONK! It's probably me!
