Island Hopping: Rock Island Film Diaries

I am so excited to finally share my photos from our backpacking trip to Rock Island. These images are some of my favorite images I've taken since I moved north from Florida. I love the colors of the Great Lakes on film. I love how the waterscape can change in a moment's notice up here- wind starts howling, waves get dark and stormy- literally reminds me so much of my beloved ocean that I miss so much. This was the scene we woke up to the last day of our trip. It had poured rain all night. No one's tent was safe from water. I walked down to this shoreline that you see in the above image and filled up our pot with water for coffee for the group. It was spring (May) at the time of our trip so we were all bundled up around the fire that morning with our hot cups of coffee eating what was left in our packs. These images remain my most lovely memories from our trip. I can't wait to go back.

All photos taken with a Pentax. Shot on Fuji 400 and Portra 400. Scans by Film Box Lab.
