The warm heart of Africa: traveling back

I'm moving there, by myself, in less than a week: Que the butterflies and mixed feelings and epic excitement. I'm moving to Malawi aka the warm heart of Africa. You can see Malawi is squished between Mozambique and Zambia and Tanzania on the map. I can't express how amazing it feels to be back working in my field of Public Health, actually in the field. I will be working with a non-profit at a malnutrition clinic for the next 2 months. I leave Monday.

It was almost this exact time last year that we were packing our bags for Australia and it was exactly 9 years ago this year that I traveled on a similar flight plan for my first trip to Africa to Zambia and Zimbabwe. You can read some of my reflections on both of those trips and moving abroad here

With 40 hours of flying ahead of me, a new culture, new language(s) I've never heard, a piece of earth I've never seen, lots of work to be done, new friends just waiting to be made, you could say I'm a little excited for this journey ahead of me. Depending on my internet connection in country, I hope to continue writing weekly in this space while I'm there. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I travel, live, and work abroad for the next few months.
