Jet lag fog

I made it. After about 35 hours of flying and layovers, I'm here in Malawi. And it's incredible. Upon arriving into the airport in Blantyre, we were on the same plane as the president of Malawi! If you've been following me on Instagram, you would've already seen the photo of my arrival with the red carpet rolled out for her. The entire airplane of passengers leaning out the window watching the military men march in formation and the band play, it was quite an ordeal and the best welcome ever! Walking past all the singing and dancing in my jet lag fog, I was immediately asked to show proof of my yellow fever vaccination and wait in a customs line for what seemed like forever.

I was warmly greeted by the clinic coordinator on the other side with a huge hug and by Malawi with warm humid air. We threw my luggage into a dusty old Landcruiser, my favorite car, and that was the exact moment I mentally buckled in for my journey here. I was shown the organization house, my bed, and the compound. Where the house is located is surrounded by mountains and it's just breathtaking. The last photo is the view from our compound.

We toured the factory the next day and jumped right into the research I'll be helping with while I'm here. I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of this. More to come....
