Day 8.....
Leaving the Bayou with our car still full of mosquitoes, we arrived in Austin, Texas late the next morning. Austin has always been a place my husband and I have wanted to visit. Also someone very special lives there, so the trip was on! By far, Austin, Texas was the furthest out of our way back to Wisconsin, so it felt good when we arrived.
Austin was well worth the drive out of the way. The food was awesome, and the energy in the city was cool. There were a few signs in the city that read, "Keep Austin weird". I'm not sure I felt Austin was weird, but definitely different from the rest of Texas.
Here are a few things we did during our visit to Austin:
- Visited Lance Armstrong's bike shop
- Cowboy boot shopping
- Went swimming at Barton Springs (which is in Downtown Austin- it's amazing)
- Saw some great live music
- Toured the State Capital
- Ate some great food
- Learned of an awesome Marathon in Ethiopia
- and...got a flat tire
Arkansas and Missouri here we come!
