Sydney.... at last

Here's a teaser from our weekend in Sydney...

Hands down, Sydney, Australia is one of the best cities I have ever traveled to. A few people have asked me how I would compare Melbourne to Sydney. Honestly, there's no comparing the two cities. An Australian I met this week here in the city said it perfectly though- Melbourne is an indoor city, while everything is outside in Sydney. I do prefer to be outside as much as possible and certainly enjoyed the sunshine, warmer evenings, and taking boat taxis everywhere. At one point this week, in a matter of 10 minutes, I passed: a Google maps tent trying to convince people with handouts that we needed better ariel maps in Australia, a local aboriginal playing a didgeridoo, a large group of Chinese nationals protesting in the streets to spread awareness of inhumane (illegal) human organ harvesting that is happening in China, and an Italian artist working on a huge pastel piece outside. I had just come out of the art museum, I took the google pamphlet, listened to the street music, dropped a $2 coin in the artist donation bucket, and signed the Chinese petition. I couldn't help but be so overwhelmed by how incredibly diverse Sydney was. It felt like an entire tiny earth all crammed into one city on the water with amazing transportation. We visited Darling Harbor, The Opera House, Taronga Zoo, The Museum of Contemporary Art, the Fish Market, Manly Beach, and at tons of awesome seafood. I fell in love with this city and promised myself that I will be back one day. We're visiting a brand new destination tomorrow, and I'm bursting with excitement to share it with you. Where I'm going, there will not be internet so hopefully these photos will tide you over until I can update you...
