real and true and true

As we grow up, we realize it's less important to have lots of friends and more important to have real ones. ~unknown

I'm so thankful for my friends. who've become closer than family. who've listened to me cry. and cried with me. called me once a week for a phone date- not knowing how much it meant to me. helped me plan my wedding. sent me mix CD's. painted pictures for me. entrusted their deepest secrets to me. drove for hours to see me. hugged me hard. forgiven me for my big mouth more than once. told me I'm beautiful. wrote me hundreds of letters. laughed at my imperfections. never made me feel judged. cooked beans and rice with rosemary for me. listened to me complain. gave me their honest opinion, always. have challenged my opinions and beliefs. ran up phone bills to call me in Africa. have sat silently with me. offered me their bed to sleep in. drove me to North Carolina. drove across the country to surprise me. gone skinny dipping with me. laughed with me until we've peed our pants. sent me care packages. traveled with me. have never hesitated to drop everything for me. have always validated my feelings. and have made me a better person.

For those of my girls who read these words, you know who you are, thank you for being such amazing human beings. I love you and miss you with all my heart. I'm coming home!
